Out On The Street

This month’s set subject is Street Photography. The images should feature the human condition within public places. My comfort zone was pushed out of shape by this topic. My preference is a long lens and to take the images without being noticed. However, street photography is best when the photographer is right there in the moment.

Marie enjoys street photography and took to this topic with eagerness. We spent time in the Queen Street Mall on a couple of weekends looking for photo opportunities. Perhaps the best was when a Saturday afternoon storm came through and drenched the mall and many people. A couple of the images I submitted came from this event.

Of concern was the Samsung phone camera images which the judge said were too pixelated on her screen to judge. Not sure what caused this problem but I think I need to be careful not to crop these images too heavily. I may have been the key cause – I will exercise more care next time.

After last month with no recognition, this month was better with two merits. Marie was very pleased to receive her first honour! I am very proud of her as she actually had 3 of her images receive honours on the night.
